The Sage Early Career Development Program (ECDP) offers early career learners who are seeking career development training the opportunity to shadow an academic digital publishing company in customer-facing work. This program will provide participants with the opportunity to gain experience, knowledge, and skills that lead to success in sales, marketing, or customer-facing work.
Through this program, participants will have the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of all areas of customer-facing work at a successful digital publishing business. They will be exposed to practical, transferable professional skills, such as how to analyze customer and internal team needs, create customer-first outreach and tools, and engage with customers. They will be supported and mentored by experienced industry professionals. Successful candidates will be considered for regular full-time positions at Sage as they become available.
The ECDP was created for anyone looking to start a career in customer-facing positions in the publishing industry. If you have a passion for education, customer-facing work, and publishing, this program is a great fit for you. Anyone can apply for this program, as we do not require a degree.
Key attributes for successful candidates include effective communication skills, high accountability, excellent time management, analytical skills, openness to feedback/learning, and being motivated.
The successful candidates for this position will participate in, at maximum, an 18-month program. The positions are temporary (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday), fully remote-based positions. This position will be benefits eligible.

Essential Training Objectives & Deliverables
This person in this position will receive training in at least four key departments and will have project deliverables, including, but not limited to, the following:
Sales
- Consultative sales training and experience (shadowing, training, and practice)
- New business development projects, for example, conducting market research and developing customer-needs assessments
- Selling content and SaaS
- CRM management and use
- Market awareness
- Opportunity pipeline management
Engagement
- Working with academic end users
- Supporting faculty teaching with products
- Analysis of customer usage
- Webinar and coffee chat presentations
Marketing
- Product Marketing including brand management
- Sales Enablement strategies including tool creation
- Customer outreach and communications
- ABX marketing strategy
This list is not an exhaustive list, and the successful candidates will be expected to complete additional tasks as reasonably requested by the line manager. The ECDP is best suited to candidates who possess a combined equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
