JOB PURPOSE / KEY OBJECTIVES
The Communications Developer role supports the Campaign Team by translating briefs from the wider Marketing organization (such as Open Access) into well‑structured HTML email templates within Engage. The role involves creating new templates, updating existing HTML assets, ensuring accuracy, and managing end‑to‑end email campaign deployment through Engage.
In addition, the Communications Developer is expected to develop hybrid skills by learning and contributing to both campaign and list-related tasks as needed.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Create, update, and optimize HTML email templates in Engage Marketing Cloud.
Collaborate closely with Marketing Communications (MarComms) partners across Sage to support seamless campaign execution.
Provide additional support for HTML/web-related tasks and campaign initiatives.
Upload, test, and deploy email campaigns using Engage.
Assist the Campaign Team by managing open queue campaigns and providing backup support during absences.
Work closely with Senior Campaign Developers and the Team Lead to prepare reports and escalate issues when required.
Regularly review, update, and maintain process documentation as part of continuous improvement efforts.
Independently manage and complete campaigns—including complex ones—from the open queue within defined SLAs.
Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and development activities assigned by the Manager or Team Lead.
Demonstrate flexibility to attend meetings scheduled in US or UK time zones as needed.
Contribute to process improvement efforts by helping reduce passes, streamline workflows, and refine internal procedures.
Successfully complete hybrid training to build proficiency in both campaign creation and list creation processes.
Provide guidance and support to team members as required during knowledge‑sharing or cross‑training activities.

Experience with SQL Server and SQL queries for data extraction and modification.
Knowledge of creating email campaign journeys, including complex workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
BCA or graduate degree with a diploma in web development or data analytics, with 0–1 year of experience in a marketing or technical role.
Experience in email and data development, including the use of email campaign tools (preferably Engage Marketing Cloud).
Strong project and time management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and critical thinking.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, action‑oriented environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving display and rendering issues across email clients.
Technical proficiency in HTML, CSS, and responsive design (media queries).
